Age 57, of Newark, DE, peacefully passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday, January 17, 2009.
Mr. Wroten was born in Wilmington, DE, on June 16, 1951. Jim enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, DC and received an an honorable discharge in April, 1974. In May 1974, he started with the Dupont Company in the stock room. While working, he attended evening school at Goldey-Beacom College and received a BS Degree in Business Management. Jim had various positions in his career in the Engineering Dept. of Dupont., the most recent being Senior Business Analyst. In September, 2008, after 34 years of service, Jim took an early incapability retirement. Mr. Wroten was a member of St. John Holy Angels Catholic Church and the Kennett Square Italian American Club. He was an assistant coach for Newark National Little League, a Junior Achievement Counselor and a proud member of the Salesianum Band Parents Association. He enjoyed traveling, theater, volleyball, University of Delaware football and was a NASCAR enthusiast. Jim most loved spending time with family, friends and co-workers and particularly enjoyed parties and entertaining.
He is survived by his parents, Jacob and Josephine (Olivieri) Wroten of Wilmington, DE; his loving wife, Joan (Haley) and devoted son, Michael, of Newark, DE; his sister, Joanne (Mosiejz) and her husband, Ronnie, of Lewes, DE; and brother, John Wroten and friend, Aimee Dooley of Wilmington, DE.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 22 at 10 am at Holy Angels Church, 82 Possum Park Road, Newark. Entombment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington. Friends may call at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm.
