John Mulrooney Obituary
AGE: 67 • New Castle
Passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Wilmington, John was the son of the Mildred Catherine Walker and the late John Patrick Mulrooney. He was a graduate of Brandywine High School and served his country proudly in the US Navy during the Vietnam War where he received the National Defense Service Medal. He worked as a millwright for City Steel, formerly Phoenix Steel, for over 30 years until his retirement in 2004.
He will be dearly missed by his mother, Mildred Zuber of North Wilmington. He was a strong, loving, caring father to his daughters and sons-in-law, Lara Mulrooney of New Castle, DE, Jennifer and Mark Phillippe of New Castle, DE, Tina and Doug Lyons of Mobile, AL and Wendy and Greg Davis of Bear, DE; his son and daughter-in-law, William "Billy" and Donna Saeger of Jacksonville, FL; 11 grandchildren, Jemma, Kristy, Kimberly, David, Jesse, Allison, Billy, Lexy Joey, Johnathan and Alyssa; and his great grandson, Michael. Also surviving are his sisters, Jacqueline Detwiler of Kennett Square, PA and Kathy Licursi of New Jersey.
Friends and family are invited to visitation on Saturday, July 19th between 9:30 and 10:30 AM at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, where funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington. MealeyFuneralHomes.com (302) 652-5913
