John Visich Obituary
Hockessin
John K. Visich, born in 1931 in Brooklyn, NY died peacefully at Heartland Hospice House on October 2, 2014. He leaves behind his wife Antoinette (Toni) and their three children Joanne Mitchell (Gary), John Visich, Jr. (Qi), and Susan Machmer along with grandchildren Heather and Lauren Mitchell, and Jingmei and Sam Visich.
After a career at Family Finance managing the top office in NY, John worked at AMF. John then progressed to be the National Credit Manager for Endo Labs in Garden City, NY prior to its acquisition by the DuPont Company. He was transferred to Wilmington, Delaware in 1977 and retired from DuPont in 1993. While on Long Island John was President of the 100 team Industrial Softball League, Deputy Commissioner of the Amateur Softball Association, a member of the Board of Umpires, and he umpired softball games for 19 years. He continued umpiring in Delaware enjoying his times with Father Jack Cavanaugh at the plate. John was also Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 177 in Albertson, NY. In Delaware, John discovered golf and became an avid golfer at the DuPont Country Club. He volunteered for the LPGA McDonald's Classic working in the Press Room for a number of years. John lived a long life enjoying his family, friends, job, sports and fishing.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE on Friday, October 10th at 11:00 am. Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 am to 11:00 am in the church. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Parish Project for Stained Glass Windows, St. Mary of the Assumption, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707.

I was sorry to learn of John's passing. I worked with John in DuPont Credit and will always remember his humor, his passion for baseball and softball and how happy he was when he would visit Barley Mill after retiring.

My condolences to the family. I fondly remember "Mr. Visich" growing up on Long Island. The father of my dear friend, Joanne, he was always joking around making us laugh. I know he will be missed by family and friends.
