Judith Coombs-Convery Obituary

Judith Coombs-Convery

Wilmington - MASS TIME RESCHEDULED

Judith Coombs-Convery, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and loved ones on Saturday, March 17, 2018 after courageously battling a prolonged illness.

She was born in Brooklyn, NY and was the daughter of the late Helen and Clifford Coombs. Judith graduated from Glens Fall HS, NY and SUNY Oneonta, with a BA in English. After many years in corporate management, Judith found her true calling as an employment counselor for the Delaware Dept. of Labor. She retired in 2010 after 20 years of service. Judith was a member of The Cathedral of St. Peter parish where she was on parish council; for 14 years served as president of the parish's St. Vincent DePaul Society and coordinated many fund raising activities for the church. She enjoyed writing poems and novels. Her life was family, church and her clients.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Kevin Convery; 3 children, Pamela Detlefsen, Philip Cirincione and Nicole Brodsky (Kenneth); 5 grandchildren, Robby and Sully Boulden, Jordan and Sydney Cirincione and Nathan Brodsky; 2 siblings, Joan Aubin and Joseph Coombs and numerous nieces and nephews. Judith is also preceded in death by her brothers, Jeffrey, John and James Coombs.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Peter, 310 W 6th St, Wilmington, DE 19801 at 10:30am, on WEDNESDAY, March 28, where friends may call after 9 am. Burial will be at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery, Greenville.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society at the Cathedral or St. Peter's Cathedral School, same address as the church, whose mission to educate the children of the surrounding area was of particular importance to her.
