Daughter of Alice Bowden, and the late Elijah Bowden, departed this life on Monday, December 5, 2005.
Born in Seaford, DE on April 16, 1956, Loretta, made her transition at Hospice Atlanta in Atlanta, GA. Loretta graduated from Seaford High School in 1974 and Delaware State College in 1978. After graduation, Loretta was employed in the Atlanta area by Merrill Lynch and Co., Charles Schwab and Co. and BellSouth. Among her numerous activities, Loretta was an active member in the Wellness Ministry and the Training Institute at Ben Hill United Methodist Church in Atlanta, GA.
Her brother, George Bowden, preceded Loretta in death. In addition to her mother, Loretta is also survived by 3 sisters, Mary Jernigan, Norma Pope and Arlene Bowden-Williams; 2 brothers, Wilbert Bowden and Sunyata; 3 sisters-in-law, Nila Bowden, Menthal Bowden and Jane McKelvey; 1 brother-in-law, Shedred Williams; 3 nieces, Nadine Bowden, Adrienne Williams and Alyssa Williams; 5 nephews, Shawn Jernigan, George Bowden, III, Robert Bowden, Russell Williams and Malcolm McKelvey; 1 godchild, Taylor Williams; and a host of other relatives, friends and former colleagues.
A service will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2005, at 1 pm at John Wesley United Methodist Church, 804 East Third St, Seaford, DE. Final viewing is from 11 am-1 pm at the church. Immediately following the service, interment will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Stein Highway and Market St., Seaford, DE.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Atlanta, 1244 Park Vista Drive, NE, Atlanta, GA 30319; or to breast cancer research.
