Louise Scarff Greer passed away on December 30, 2007 at her residence, Manor Care of Wilmington. She was 87.
Louise was born and raised in Harford County, MD, where she grew up with her parents and 2 brothers and sisters. She married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Peery Greer in 1943, and after WWII, the couple moved to Philadelphia, where husband Tom started a career as a radio announcer and Louise worked as a switchboard operator for the same radio station. In 1947 Tom and Louise moved to Wilmington, DE, where they raised 2 boys. Tom worked in the local media as a radio announcer and newspaper reporter and Louise was a devoted housewife until Tom died in 2005. Louise was happiest when she was with family or swimming. She loved the beach and was a long-time member of River Road Swim Club. She was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church of Hillcrest for over 50 years, and she worked for a number of years for Continental Jewelers of Wilmington.
Survivors include her son, Riley Thomas Greer, of Denver, CO; her son, Jeffrey Greer and his wife, Deborah, of Louisville, KY; also grandson, Andrew Greer of Camp Hill, PA and grandson Christopher Greer and his wife, Bonni, of Claymont, DE and their daughter, Riley. Louise is also survived by her sister, Evelyn Fox, of Miami, FL.; her brother, Philip Scarff, and his wife, Janice, of Reading, PA; her brother, Thomas Scarff, and his wife, Shirley, of Belcamp, MD; and her sister, Martha Frost, and her husband, Robert, of Catonsville, MD.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 12, 2008 at CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, where friends and relatives may call from 10-11 am. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Calvary Episcopal Church, 304 Lore Ave., Wilm., DE 19809-3134.
