Mae Finkernagel

(Widdoes)

Mrs. Mae Widdoes Finkernagel, age 94 of Newark, DE died Monday, May 16, 2005, at her home.

Born June 3, 1910 in Elk Mills, MD, Mrs. Finkernagel was the daughter of the late Lewis S. Widdoes and Elizabeth Gregson Widdoes. Following the death of her husband, Ferdinand "Ferd" in 1958, she took over the operation of their business, the former Electric Motor Service on Tyre Avenue in Newark. Mrs. Finkernagel was an active hospital volunteer throughout her life and spent much of her time in later years assisting at the Perry Point (MD) Veterans Hospital. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Elkton, MD. She greatly enjoyed international travel.

Mrs. Finkernagel's family would like to thank the staff of Odyssey Healthcare and Mabel, her caregiver, for their loving support and care during these last months.

She is survived by her grandson, John W. Cobb and his wife, Margaret, of Newark; and great granddaughter, Maegan Cobb. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Beverly Cobb, in 2002.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, May 20, 2005, at the SPICER-MULLIKIN FUNERAL HOME, 121 West Park Place, Newark, where friends may call after 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Cherry Hill Cemetery, Elkton, MD. To send condolences, visit
