Marjorie Yudkin Obituary

Rabbi Marjorie Sue Yudkin

Passed away peacefully at home on May 8, 2014, after a long and courageous struggle with Huntington's Disease. She was born May 21, 1956, to Elaine and Gerald Yudkin and grew up in North Haven, CT.

A graduate of Yale University in 1978, Marjorie received rabbinic ordination from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in 1983. She served as the rabbi for Reform synagogues in Rye, NY, Easton and West Chester, PA, as well as Lafayette College Hillel and Princeton University Hillel. She took pride and pleasure in leading services, teaching children, and interfaith work. Forced by illness to retire in 2002, Marjorie continued to enjoy the simple pleasures of friends and family, music, food and nature.

Her memory is celebrated by her husband Randy Tiffany, her daughters Shira Yudkin Tiffany and Talia Yudkin Tiffany, her mother Elaine Yudkin, her brother David Yudkin and by the many other family members, friends and caregivers who knew and loved her. She endured the loss of her father and her sister Marisa Yudkin.

Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon, Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Congregation Beth Israel of Media, 542 South New Middletown Road, Media, PA 19063. Shva will be observed 7:00 pm Sunday through Thursday, May 11- 14, 2014 at the late residence.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marjrie's honor would be appreciated to the Huntington's Disease Society of America, Women of Reform Judaism, Mazon, or other organizations working to repair the world.

We are so sorry to hear of Marjorie's passing. We will always have great memories of our time together in the Lehigh Valley. I'll never forget when Marjorie was new to the synagogue in Easton and I interviewed her and found the connection to Robert. Hoping time will help heal all.

Rabbi Yudkin was a very important part of the early development of Congregation Beth Chaim . She was the Rabbi who conducted our son Justin Katzwhite's Bar Mitzvah, and many others. Wonderful person and a spiritual leader. May she rest in eternal peace.
