Mark Gildea Obituary
AGE: 54 • Ocean City, New Jersey
Died at home on Wednesday, May 4, 2016.
Mark was a native of Wilmington, Delaware. He was the son of Robert P. Gildea, Sr. and Mary B Gildea. Mark was a graduate of Dickinson High School. He was an accomplished athlete and competed in football, baseball and wrestling. Mark served his country in the United States Navy.
He was a loving father, devoted husband and brother. Mark was a truly larger than life man, who was kind, loving, sensitive, and fiercely protective of his family and friends. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand.
He loved life, lived hard, played hard had a rebel spirit. Mark was a man of strong faith and belief. He believed that God's hands hold us all and that HE shows us the way forward.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Judy Spina Gildea; his son, Joseph Gildea; his mother, Mary B. Gildea; his sisters, Mary E. Gomez and Graceann Gildea; and his brothers, Robert, Thomas, Paul and Vincent Gildea, all of Wilmington.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Beloved R. C. Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington on Monday, May 9, at 11:30 am. A viewing will take place at the church on Monday morning from 10:30-11:30 am. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers friends and family can donate to the Joseph Gildea Education Fund, c/o Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805.
