Age 79, of Wilmington, DE died on Monday, April 5, 2010 in the Parkview Nursing Home. Born in Deptford, NJ on December 10, 1930 she was the daughter of the late, Joseph and Evelyn Cummings.
Mary Jane grew up in South Jersey and finished her high school education in Philadelphia, PA. She was a crossing guard for New Castle County for 30 years. Mary Jane was a loving and dedicated wife and mother of 7. She was a homemaker and housewife. She was active in her church, St. John the Beloved, the cub scouts and girl scouts. Mary Jane took great joy in every aspect in her family's life. Her gentle personality and quick smile was a great source of comfort and support to many. She was predeceased by, her daughter, Joyce L. Anker, her brothers, Joseph A. and Edward Cummings, and by her sister, Winifred Cummings. Mary Jane is survived by, her husband of 57 years, John J. Anker, her children, John J. Anker, Jr., Daniel J. Anker, Thomas J. Anker, David L. Anker, Susan T. Anker and Sharon A. O'Sullivan, her brother, Jim Cummings. She was the proud grandmother of 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, on Monday, April 12, at 11am. Burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mary Jane may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association of Delaware 240 N. James Street Suite 100-A, Newport, DE 19804.
