Mary Evans Obituary
Wilmington - Mary "Louise" Evans, age 98, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Brandywine Rehab Center.
She was born in West Grove, PA to the late Mabel (Fry) and John Carrigan. Louise graduated from Oxford HS 1939. She married her high school sweet heart, John in 1940. Louise raised their oldest daughter while John served his country during WW II. After the war, Louise and John had 2 boys. She was a member of Christ UMC, where she was a very active member. Louise enjoyed cooking, gardening and sewing. She actually made one of her daughter in law's wedding gown.
Louise is survived by her husband of 77 years John C. Evans; 3 children, Mary Lou Barcome (Jeff), Thomas C. (Phyllis) and John M. (Yong), 3 grandchildren, Susan, Sonja and Richard, 4 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. She is also preceded in death by a son, Ronald in infancy and a sister Marion Sollars.
A visitation will be held at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3710 Kirkwood, Hwy, Wilmington on Thursday, January 25, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am, with a funeral to follow at 11:30 am. Burial will be at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Christ UMC, 6 N Clifton Ave, Wilmington, DE 19805

I am very sorry for your loss, loosing a loved one is truly a heartbreaking experience, but its uplifting to know that God promises us in Isaiah 65:17 a near future in which not only wont we feel the pain of loosing a loved one anymore but we wont even remember how it felt. Our pain will be erased and we will be happy once again.
