Mary Venturena Obituary

Mary E. Venturena

Age 91, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on February 28, 2011.

Mary was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 31, 1919, daughter of the late Rudolph and Florence (Apostolico) Azzanesi. An adoring wife, mother, and grandmother, she was an endlessly loving and devoted homemaker. She was a talented seamstress and avid fan of soap operas, and also found great joy in spending winters in Florida with her husband. Mary was a faithful member of St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Church, enjoying 60 years of membership with the parish and proudly serving in its Sodality. She will forever be remembered for her kind heart and generous, loving spirit.

Mary is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Anso V. Venturena; children, Sue Ann V. DiMascio and her husband Louis W., Mary Ann Venturena, Victor J. Venturena and his wife Mary Ann, and Robert Venturena and his wife Cindy E.; grandchildren, Christopher DiMascio, Nicole Sullivan, Brad DiMascio, Daniella M. Venturena, and Andrea L. Venturena; great-grandchildren, Emma Claire DiMascio and Elizabeth Ann DiMascio; sister, Margaret Spadaro; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth RC Church, Cedar and Clayton Sts. in Wilmington, on Friday morning, March 4 at 11 am. Entombment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the CHARLES P. ARCARO FUNERAL HOME, 2309 Lancaster Ave. in Wilmington, on Friday morning, prior to mass, from 9-10:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Rd., Wilmington, DE 19810.
