Michael J. Williams, Sr. Age 50 of Wilmington, DE passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2004, at Christiana Hospital, after a long battle with cancer. "He went home to the Lord to become our angel." Michael was a lifetime active member of the Five Points Fire Company, serving in many positions over 35 years. He was an electrician by trade, but there wasn't any task he could not handle. He was employed by A.I. duPont Children's Hospital for 25 years and the Sodexho Corp. until retiring due to disability in 2001. He enjoyed spending time with his family, softball, and fishing aboard the boat "Stinky Fingers". For many years, his summers were spent in Longport, NJ. He was also a member of the Shamrock Judges Association and in the 1970s he served as deputy commissioner of the Men's Industrial Softball League. He loved to sing and was a member of SPEBSQSA, Wilmington Chapter. Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn A. Williams. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 29 years, Margaret (Carney) Williams; his daughter, Kimberly Puit and her husband, Charlie; his sons, Michael J. Williams Jr. and his wife, Christina, Patrick Williams and his fiancváe, Stacey Battles, and Jay Williams; and his grandchildren, Alyssa and Nathan; and his father, Francis E. Williams, Jr. His brothers and sisters, Patricia Sanders, Sharon Williams, Francis E. Williams, III and his wife, Lorraine, Dennis Williams, Cynthia Susi and her husband, Tony, Mary Winnington and her husband, Michael, Robert Williams and his wife, Alice, Roger Williams and his wife, Elizabeth, Laura Brignola and her husband, James, and Lynn Lupacchino and her husband, Dominic also survive. Nieces and nephews, Joelle Sanders, Andrea Williamson, Joseph Saienni, Devon and Matthew Williams, Dustin Williams, Nino Susi, Ryan and Ashlee Gralewski, Jeffrey, Jennifer and Juliann Winnington, Sarah, Taylor, MaryKate and Brenna Williams, Sean and Kelly Williams and Amanda and Samantha Lupacchino survive as well. He is also survived by his in-laws, John and Margaret Carney; sisters-in-law, Jeanmarie Maloney and her husband, Kevin, and their children, Erin, Kelsey and Maria, Cathy Brady and her children, Tara, Kevin and John. Michael's eternal hosts of friends are too numerous to mention. Family and friends may call from 5-8 pm on Sunday, January 18th, at the MCCRERY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, Kirkwood Hwy. & Duncan Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 am on Monday, January 19th, at St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church, Cedar & Clayton Sts., Wilmington. Burial will be in Cathedral Cemetery.
