Monique C. TOSICK

Monique C. Tosick Passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at her son's home in Greenfield, IN. She was 89 years old and succumbed to the effects of advanced age. Her daughter, Marianne Tosick Udagama, MD and her daughter-in-law, Janet Tosick were in attendance. Mrs. Tosick was born Monique Cartwright in Six Lakes, MI and grew up in Lakeview, MI, where she graduated from Lakeview High School. She received her diploma as a registered nurse after completing her studies at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. She won a fellowship to study public health nursing at the University of Pennsylvania. Her nursing career took her to Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, DE where she met her husband, William A. Tosick, MD and became a full time homemaker. The couple resided in Cambridge, MD and Wilmington, DE during WWII. Following the war, they lived in Newton Highlands, MA, Waco, TX and in Indianapolis, IN until Dr. Tosick retired. In retirement the lived in Sunset Beach, NC and Chestertown, MD. Mrs. Tosick lived the past 3 years of her life in Greenfield, IN. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Chestertown, MD for over 20 years, where she was a Eucharistic minister and a member of the liturgy committee. She was a member of the Third Order of Carmelites and a volunteer with the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Kent County. Her husband of 41 years passed away in 1981. Two daughters, Susan Storwick and Andrea Satkamp also preceded her in death. Survivors include her sons, Bill Tosick of Middletown, DE and Michael Tosick of Greenfield, IN; daughter, Marianne Tosick Udagama, MD of Union City, CA; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Friday, January 23rd at Sacred Heart Church, 508 High Street, Chestertown, MD where visitation will begin at 9:30 am. Interment will be private at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery.
