ORVILLE GOODEN Obituary

Orville F. Gooden

Age 84, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2007, at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Orville was the son of the late Aubrey M. and Catherine (Minner) Gooden. He served his country faithfully in the U. S. Air Force. during WWII. Mr. Gooden was employed by the Chrysler Auto Assembly Plant in Newark, where he retired after many years of dedicated service. He was a member of the New Castle United Methodist Church and the Wilmington Manor Lions Club. Orville enjoyed woodworking. He created many beautiful items, especially picture frames and birdhouses. Orville had a great sense of humor. Above all, he had a commitment to his wife and family, which he cherished dearly.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Louisa (Baker) Gooden; . daughters, Barbara Gordon, and her husband, David, and Sharon Jones, and her late husband, William J., all of Newark, DE; 3 grandchildren, David Gordon, Jr., and his wife. Jerisha, Jason Gordon, and Dustin Gordon.

The funeral service will be held at 11 am, on Thursday, April 12, at the Gebhart Funeral Home, 531 Delaware Street, New Castle, where friends may visit with the family from 10-11 am. Burial will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Delaware Chapter, 2306 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805.
