Robert John Bruce "Bob"

AGE: 69 • New Castle

Robert John Bruce, 69, of New Castle, DE., passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014, while surrounded by his beloved family at the Heartland Hospice House. Born in Penns Grove, New Jersey on May 1, 1944, Bob was the son of June Bruce and the grandson of Alma Bruce.

After graduating from Penns Grove High School, he served in the US Army, Company T-2nd Brigade in 1966, and fought long and hard in the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge, Bob spent most of his career as a restaurant manager, working at various locations throughout New Castle County. He was well known for being one of the most charismatic and influential managers and coaches that the New Castle Little League ever had.

He was preceded in death by his mother and grandmother. Bob will be truly and deeply missed by his wife of 45 years, Sandra (Stauffer) Bruce; sons, Rick, Mike and Mark; daughters-in-law, Amiee and Carolyn; cousin, Arlene McGinley; and 8 grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm on Wednesday afternoon, April 2, 2014, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where family and friends may visit from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm. Interment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
