(Bob)
On January 14, 2010, at the age of 66, Bob Chaffin of Wilmington, DE (formerly Hockessin, DE) passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family after a courageous year-long battle with lung cancer.
Born in Richlands, VA, he was predeceased by his parents Carl and Myrtle Chaffin. Bob retired from Chrysler in 1998 after 33 years of service and was currently involved with his family's business (Chaffin Cleaning Service, Inc.) He could always be found over seeing his crew at the Sanford School. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends at Crossroads Restaurant. He was a loving and caring family man who was devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patty Chaffin, three sons, Rob and wife, Darla of Newark, Mark and wife, Diane of Wilmington, and Scott and wife, Cheryl of Kennett Square, PA, three grandchildren, Jamie Lynn, Matthew, and Daniel. He is also survived by his sister, Elaine Baskerville and husband Terrell of Orange, VA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, January 17, 2010, from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Pike Creek, where funeral services will be held on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 10am with a private burial immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Lighthouse Baptist Church Building Fund, 1842 Otts Chapel Road, Newark, DE 19702.
