Roger Wooleyhan

AGE: 90 • Millsboro

Roger died at home in Millsboro, DE on Sunday April 30, 2017. He was born on August 19, 1926 in Elkton, MD to Roger E. and Brita B. Wooleyhan.

His childhood years were spent in Chesapeake City, MD. The family moved to New Castle Co. and he graduated from Conrad High School in 1944. He attended University of Delaware until WWII was declared. He joined the Army and served with the 6th Ranger Battalion in the South Pacific.

Roger graduated from the Academy of Advanced Traffic in New York City, completing courses covering all modes of transportation including Interstate Commerce Commission practitioner's course. His entire career was spent working for Wooleyhan Transport. Company from greasing trucks on weekends during his school years to sales manager for the middle Atlantic area.

Roger was a loyal Phillies and Eagles fan and a golf enthusiast. He played at Shawnee CC in Milford, Delaware and in Sebring, Florida.

He was a dedicated and involved family man and a teller of great stories. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Roger was predeceased by his parents and a brother Phillip Wooleyhan. He is survived by his wife Marietta, sons Roger (Lisa), Carl Philip (Anna), and Jeffrey (Cindy), also grandsons, Roger Dane and Shaun David. He is also survived by sisters, Elizabeth Griffin, Sally Norquist and brother Jon Wooleyhan.

According to his wishes there will be no formal funeral service.

True to their name, the staff of Compassionate Care Hospice provided consistent, loving care and support for Roger and his family. Contributions for the staff of CCH would be appreciated.
