Ronald Annone Obituary

Ronald F. Annone

Wilmington, DE - Ronald F. Annone, age 72, died peacefully in the care of Season's Hospice at Christiana Hospital on Monday, March 22, 2021.

Ronnie was born on August 8, 1948 in Wilmington, DE, to the late Marie L. (Giorgi) and Pasquale P. Annone. The only child to two Italian immigrants, he graduated from Claymont High School and studied the culinary arts. Ronnie proudly served in the United States Marines and is a Vietnam War veteran. He enjoyed a career as an Amtrak engineer for many years where he was affectionately known as "Rocket" for always getting the train to the station ahead of schedule.

Ronnie enjoyed cooking for family and friends, especially Sunday dinners. He also enjoyed vacations with family, outings with his two grandsons, and attending car shows with his '57 Chevy.

Ronnie will be dearly missed by his wife, Jill Ramer of Wilmington, DE; his daughters April Horsey of Newark, DE and Faye Bailey (Scott) of Bear, DE; his grandsons, Leavitt and Revell Horsey; and many cousins.

A mass will be held in honor of Ronnie on Saturday, March 27 at 11 am at Sacred Heart Church, 917 N Madison St, Wilmington, DE 19801. A private burial will be held at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Ministry of Caring, 115 East 14th Street, Wilmington, DE 19801 or the Brandywine Valley SPCA, 1212 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, PA 19380.

Thinking of the Rocket today and all of the wonderful memories , that now overshadow the sad ones ! A good Friend from years ago in Claymont , just this week sent me a stack of photos from Claymont circa the mid 1960;s ! Ronnie and my Cousin Joe together in a couple of them in front of my Parents Store. They were probably 16 or 17 years old. Great Memories and surely a wonderful place to grow up, in much simpler, uncomplicated times . God Bless Ronnie's Soul !

April and Faye,I will never forget what your father did for me. If it were not for him I never would have been able to work for Amtrak. He let me stay at your house until I could afford to move my wife up to Wilmington. He was a true friend to me,I will never forget him.So sorry that I did not know of his illness or passing until now.May God bless you and your families.

I worked at WIlmington Amtrak Test Center and was on a few test runs with locomotives coming out of the shop with "Rocket" as our test engineer always a lot of fun. Always liked when he drove in the shop with his 57 Chevy. Rest in peace, you will be missed.

Jill, very sorry for your loss. I knew Ron since we were 18yrs old. having
great times at the beach with friends from the ‘Hill’ (Little Italy). Lost track of Ron during Vietnam years. Got together years later at car shows. His ‘57 Chevy is one of the best. If you stopped by his home, you couldn’t leave wo/Ron making you one of his famous breakfast sandwiches before heading to a car show. He will be missed by all that knew him. May God bless and rest his soul with his loved ones in heaven. See ‘ya later Rocket!! Tommy Kaye

A good guy, I was a fireman for the "Rocket" on both passenger and freight in early 70's He always let me run. Last seen him in 2009 when he blew a loud hand held horn at my brothers funeral "Big Ed" an Amtrak engineer. It was funny
