Mr. Samuel K. Murray, Jr., 66 of Wilmington, DE, was called home to be with our Lord while surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, February 28, 2010.
Sam was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 29, 1943, son of the late Samuel and Jessi
e (MacQueen) Murray. A graduate of Yeadon High School, he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. Sam was employed as a manager with Sun East Federal Credit Union, retiring in 2004 after 10 years of dedicated service. He was an avid collector of many different items throughout his life, especially enjoying antiques, baseball cards and most recently, coins. Sam was also a sports enthusiast and a friendly man who was very happy when in the company of others. His greatest joy was being with his beloved family, who were always the center of his world.
Sam will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 43 years, Nancy (Sweeny) Murray; his daughters, Laura Piraino and Nancy Flynn; their husbands, Daniel Piraino and Mark Flynn; and his grandchildren, Zachary and Julia Flynn and Emily Piraino. He is also survived by his brothers, James F. Murray and John V. Murray; and his faithful dog, Bentley.
A funeral service will be held at Bible Baptist Church, 801 Darley Road, Wilmington on Saturday, March 6, at 11 am. Interment will follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA. Family and friends may visit at the church on Saturday from 10-11 am.
