Passed away April 10, 2017. Husband of Notre James; father of Robert McPhatter (Sharon),Teneika James and Vernon H. James; brother of Craig James and the late Cecilia James. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, one niece, Theresa Case (Charles) and a host of other family and friends. Funeral 10am, Sat., April 15th at Seeds of Greatness, 828 Frenchtown Road, New Castle, viewing 8-9:45 am only. Burial, 10am, Mon.,
April 17th, Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.

Moving back to Delaware in 2022, I heard that Vernon had passed. 40 years ago I played with Vernon at Christina cultural Arts Center when it was at Old Swedes Church. He lead the workshop after Earl Brown moved to New Orleans. Vernon was a great musician and a wonderful soul.
