William CAPUTO Obituary

William L. Caputo, Sr. "Dibby" Age 82 of Kennett Square, PA passed away Monday, February 9, 2004, at Brinton Manor in Glen Mills, PA. He was the husband of Valentina DaVia Caputo, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage. Born in Toughkenamon, PA, he was son of the late Louis V. and Grace Vecchione Caputo. Dibby received the Purple Heart while serving in the U.S. Marines during World War II. He was a member of the Swayne, Campbell, Testa VFW Post #5467 in Kennett Square. He was a foreman and greens man for Hercules Golf Club and golf course in Wilmington, DE for 24 years, retiring in 1983. Formerly he worked for Mushroom Transportation for 10 years. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Kennett Square. In his earlier years, he played baseball, was a coach of the St. Patrick's Teener League, a former baseball league, and an avid baseball fan. He enjoyed his grandchildren, gardening, watching horseracing and sports. In addition to his wife, Dibby is survived by 2 sons, William L. "Dibby" Caputo, Jr. of Kennett Square, Edward E. Caputo of Coatesville; and 2 daughters, Amelia G. Piperis and Dianne C. Smith, both of Kennett Square. His brothers, Vincent Caputo of West Chester, Paul Caputo of Kennett Square; sisters, Mary Zoli and Grace Camoirano, both of Hockessin, DE; and 7 grandchildren also survive him. Dibby was preceded in death by his brothers, Anthony, Dominic, John, Bobby, Virgil and Louis; and his sister, Rose Salvato. Family and friends are invited to attend Dibby's life celebration from 8-9:30 am on Friday, February 13, 2004, at the KUZO & GOFUS FUNERAL HOME, State & Meredith Sts., Kennett Square. His funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday at St. Patrick's Church, Cypress & Meredith Sts., Kennett Square. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, N. Union St., Kennett Square. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Centre for St. Padre Pio, Inc., RD#1, Box 134, Barto, PA 19504; or to Heartland Hospice, 431 S. Walnut St., Kennett Square, PA 19348.
