William Lynch Obituary

William D. Lynch

AGE: 77 • Middletown

William D. Lynch, 77, of Middletown passed away peacefully on Monday, August 28, 2017 at Seasons Hospice Inpatient Unit at Christiana Hospital.

Bill served as a police officer for the city of Wilmington for over 21 years, retiring as Captain in 1983. He then worked as Manager of Corporate Security for Hercules retiring in 2002.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Letitia Ann.

Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Roberta "Bobbie"; his daughter Stacy and her husband John Sanders; his 3 granddaughters Maura, Abigail and Amanda; and his sister Ellen Valiante.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday morning September 1st at 10 am at St. Hedwig Church, 408 S. Harrison Street, Wilmington, DE. Visitation will be held Thursday evening August 31 from 7-9pm at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown. Interment will be in Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.

In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Shriners Hospital for Children, 3551 N. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA 19140.

Sorry I can't make the services. Bill was my DI in 1969, and I'll aways remember the first day I met him at the academy, 1213 Walnut St.....a day to remember. He was one of the best and I'm very sorry to hear of his passing. He will always be remembered.

Bill was an awesome person. He helped me get in the police academy July of 1970. He was a cops cop. Someone who would listen when you talked to him. I'm sure he will be dearly missed by all. I send my sincere condolences to his family.

Bill was such a fum loving guy with a great smile and always had a quick joke for you while drinking a beer. Never an unwelcoming or uncomfortably moment with Bill. I did not get a chance to spend a tremendous amount of time with Bill over the last 18 years but the time I spent with him was always memorable!! I sure will miss that guy!
