Yolanda Fox Obituary
Age 88, of Wilmington, DE, peacefully passed away on March 1, 2011, surrounded by the people who loved her.
Lonnie graduated from Wilmington High School in 1939. She worked at Sears at Prices Corner for 43 years retiring at the age of 84. In her earlier years she worked as a secretary for the HR director at General Motors and at National Cash Register. She also helped her husband, Elmer, in their floral shop.
Lonnie enjoyed dancing, especially tap, which she learned while attending the Adrolina School of Musica. She participated in music shows during high school and danced for the USO during WW II. She was an avid bowler during her CYO days, later bowling with various leagues at Prices Lanes. Lonnie loved the beach, working on her suntan, music, and dancing at the Knights of Columbus and DAP halls. Her favorite song was Sentimental Journey. Lonnie was the consummate shopper, always proud of her bargains. Her greatest love was her family and she enjoyed doting over her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Elmer J. Fox; daughter, Wendi Fox Pedicone; parents, Michael and Rose (Cataldo) Fierro; brothers, Albert and Vincent Fierro; and sister, Frances Albanese.
Lonnie is survived by her children, Deborah A. Fox of Denver, CO, Vicki L. Bonvetti (Duke) of Bear, and Timothy E. Fox (Mary) of Wilmington; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and sisters, Carmela Santillo (Joe), and Rita Stirparo (Jimmy).
A special thanks to the staff of Heartland Hospice and her other caregivers for their continuous care and kindness for both Mrs. Fox and her family, especially Cynthia who started out being a caregiver and became a part of the family.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 7th at 11 am at the MCCRERY AND HARRA FUNERAL HOME, 3710 Kirkwood Highway at Duncan Road where friends may call on Sunday from 2-4 pm. Interment will be in Silverbrook Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made in her name to Heartland Hospice Fund, 256 Chapman Road, Suite 102, Newark, DE 19702.

My thoughts are with the family at this time. Lonnie was one of my "Mom's" in the neighborhood when I was growing up. I have some nice memories of her and her family.

I am sorry to hear of your mom's passing. Although she misses everyone here she is happy to see your dad and sister Wendi.
I'm sure right now she's sitting with my mom and they're talking away
about the good times.i remember your parents having us over on
the holidays.its one of my fav Christmas memories.

I wish I had met this wonderful lady and her family. It is terrible to know we are family, and yet I've never met any of you. My Dad, Robert L. Myers was first cousins with Elmer.

I first met Lonnie when I was a child and your family lived on Vandever
Avenue. She was one of the most loving people I have ever met and I
never forgot her. Believe it or not, she even remembered me when I
saw her in Sears and was just as loving and sweet to me then. I am
now a grandmother myself and she will always be a role model for
me. How fortunate you were to have her for your Mom and Grandmom. I know she is smiling with the angels. My sincere
