Zachary Hartfield Obituary
Of Smyrna, DE, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2012. He was 19.
Zak was born June 1, 1992 in Newark, DE, the son of Susan Truluck Norris of Smyrna and Scott E. Hartfield of Bear, DE.
Zak liked playing his bass guitar and loved listening to music. He was a huge football fan, especially of the Seattle Seahawks. Zak was also an avid Phillies fan. Other hobbies and interests included fishing and many nights of laughter while watching his favorite show, Southpark.
In addition to his birth parents, Zak is survived by his stepfather, Sam Norris of Smyrna, who raised him most of his life; a sister Sarah A. Walker, "Sissy", her husband Jeffrey, and their daughter, Jada, all of Delaware City, DE; two brothers, Travis T. Hartfield and Jacob Norris, both at home in Smyrna; his maternal grandmother, Virginia L. Truluck of Delaware City; his paternal grandmother, Josephine Hartfield of Salem, VA; his special aunt "Sis", Donna J. Smith and her husband Victor of Dover, DE; his close cousin, Fame M. Edwards and her husband Bobby of Delaware City; his father's girlfriend, Sandra Bromwell of Bear; his best friend, Dillan; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 17, from 6 to 7 pm in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna.
Funeral services will begin at 7 pm. At the conclusion of the services, the viewing will continue until 8:30 pm.
Flowers are welcome; however contributions to Delaware City Fire Company, PO Box 251, Delaware City, DE 19706 would be appreciated.

it is coming up on 11 years that you have been gone. the day my heart broke.. so much has changed but the one thing that has stayed consistent is that feeling of "something is missing". to say i miss you is an understatement and to know i always will is devastating. they say it gets better with time but i think we just learn to live without you.

Scott, Travis, Sue and Sandy,
Please accept our sincere sympathy as you mourn the passing of your precious Zak. Our family's thoughts and prayers are with you. We are so glad that we got to spend time with Zak, Travis and Scott at Aunt Jo's house last summer. Zak was the life of the party!:-)

Travis and Family,
My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. I had the pleasure of knowing Zak at Smyrna High School, he was a very sweet young man.
Travis, I know this is very hard on you. But always remember your brother loved you very much. He was so proud when he bought you that Minnesota Vikings Jersey, his eyes lit up when he told me he got it for you. Travis he will always be in your heart and memories and will always be watching over you as you continue your life here on earth. He is your personal angel now. Remember what I told you, if you ever need someone to talk to PLEASE feel free to stop by the high school and ask for me, I will talk anytime.
Dakota also sends his thoughts and prayers to you!!! And hopes Zak will now RIP.

I lost you, my best friend and my brother. I miss you every second of the day till i finally am able to fall asleep. Words cannot explain the deep sadness and pain in my heart. I thought you would always be there for me to talk to when i need someone to listen. And your gone and wish i would have done something to help you, because you helped save my life. I would do anything to have you back and know your here again. It hurts so bad to know that ill never see or hear your voice. I cant stop crying and can barely muster a smile ever since the day you left us. I know your an angel and you are watching over us and your at peace. But the pain kills me and i still miss you so much i cant bare it. The first thing i do when i wake is think of you and your the last thing i think of before i go to bed. Im hoping i will see you in my dreams so i can hug you and truely tell you how much i miss and love you. Ill do my best to make you proud and live the life that you would have wanted me to. Because im living my life for you now. Ill never have a true best friend like you ever again because your the one and only best friend that ive ever had and ever will have. I love and miss you more than words can explain and i promise i will make you proud, just like you always said you were of me. I had the pleasure of meeting Zak last Friday while I was visiting his sister. He was a very nice, happy guy. He even played video games with my son.
So sorry for the loss of such a young life. I know you will be missed.

Had A lot of fun watching this little grownup guy. Watched a lot of South Park with him when he was little. Still watching. You will be missed, it was kinda early to be called home. I guess God has a different assignment for Zak now. It does'nt make it easier for the people left behind, for we will still miss his presence on the Earth. Rest in God's arms little one.
