Alva K. Mullikin

Alva K. (nee Koch) Mullikin, age 102 Alva K. (nee Koch) Mullikin, age 102, of Lima Estates in Media, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2013. Alva was the wife of professional photographer the late Howard R. Survivors: Beloved Mother of Diane C. and John H. of Malvern, Sister in-law of Marian Koch of North Carolina, also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was born and raised in Drexel Hill. She was one of four daughters and two sons of E. Agnes Koch (nee Kunkle) and Harry W. Koch who was a Drexel Hill real estate developer and builder on the Runnymede A. J. Drexel property, which is now the site of Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast high schools in Upper Darby. She was a choir member and taught Sunday School at Grace Lutheran Church in Drexel Hill. She graduated from Upper Darby High School where she excelled at girls hockey. She attended Pierce Business College. She worked for Quick & Bros. real estate in Philadelphia during the war years. She worked at a doctors office, in banking and was a private secretary at Boeing Vertol for 10 years before she retired. She made natural tree ornaments with the Brandywine Museum, decorating the 1984 Nancy and Ronald Reagan White House Christmas tree. Alva's interests also included quilting, knitting, handiwork, a lifelong love of gardening and some merit winning photography. She was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran church in Springfield involved with vacation bible school the church newsletter, widows group and treasurer of the V. I. M. group. She moved to Lima Estates in Media in 2001 where she resided the past 12 years. Services and inturnment: were presided over by the Rev. Karl M.
