Anastasia Margaret Lawlor

Anastasia Margaret Lawlor (nee Brett), 84, an angel on earth, went to her Heavenly home on October 24, 2022. Anastasia was a shining example of love, generosity and purity of heart to her children: Chris Lawlor (Lisa); Jim Lawlor (Ladonna); Frank Lawlor (Maria); Dan Lawlor (Margaret); Loretta Maguire (Jim), and Marjorie Lawlor (Mike Scalzone). Known to them as “Grandmom,â€� or “Poppy Grandmom,â€� Stasia is remembered fondly for her playfulness and affection by her 12 grandchildren: Christopher Lawlor, Brett Lawlor, Edward James Lawlor, Julia Lawlor, Daniel Lawlor, Bridgid O’Boyle (Tom), KerryAnn Lawlor, James Maguire, Brendan Maguire, Patrick Maguire, Michael Rossi, and Steven Rossi. In addition to her children and grandchildren, she is survived by her sister-in-law Dorothy Brett and her brother-in-law Lester Rouse, as well as many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews and cousins. Anastasia was predeceased by her loving husband James A. Lawlor, parents Francis Brett and Margaret Brett (nee Hannigan), siblings Joseph Brett, Rev. Francis Brett, Rosemary Rouse, Rev. Robert Brett, and close cousin Joseph Coleman. A 1955 graduate of John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls’ High School, Anastasia went to work at General Electric where she met her husband and lifelong dance partner, Jim. The couple married in 1958 and moved from West Philadelphia to Briarcliffe in Delaware County upon the birth of their second child. There they raised a family of six, worked hard until their respective retirements and watched countless Phillies games together on the living room couch. In the community, Stasia served as a Democratic Election Inspector and was active in St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish, CYO, Briarcliffe Pool and the Father & Sons Athletic Association. For twenty years, guests and visitors of Bryn Mawr Terrace Convalescent Center were greeted warmly and assisted ably by the kindhearted receptionist, Anastasia, whose dedication and sweet demeanor endeared her to her colleagues. Anastasia took great pride in her family, and enjoyed activities that celebrated her Irish Heritage. Halloween was a special time of year, when Stasia would delight in creating costumes for her children and grandchildren, and in sitting on the front steps to greet all of the Trick-or-Treaters visiting Beech Avenue. With just a wee smidge of impishness in her sparkling Irish eyes, Stasia was affectionately nicknamed “Stacy Babyâ€� by her daughters-in-law. She was known, above all, for her sweet, caring, loving, friendly, helpful nature which, against all odds, she preserved to the very end of her long battle with Alzheimer’s dementia, as often noted by her dedicated caretakers. Anastasia’s is a legacy of pure love that lives on in her children, grandchildren and all those blessed to have shared in her time with us on this earth. A public viewing will be held on Saturday October 29th at 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at Church of St. Kevin, 200 W. Sproul Road, Springfield, PA, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to commence at 11:00 a.m. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
