Frank Gorges Obituary

Frank B. Gorges, 89 Frank B. Gorges, 89, Born November 21, 1922 in Wynnewood, PA. Died July 17, 2012 in Lankenau Hospital, Wynnewood, PA as a result of a stroke. He was a resident of the Rosemont Presbyterian Retirement Village in Rosemont, Pa and previously resided with his wife Mary in Lansdowne. Frank was in the U.S. Coast Guard 1942 to 1945; served on the USS Pettit, a destroyer escort. Also in the U.S. Navy 1950 to 1952 where he served on the USS Perry, Destroyer and obtained rank of Radioman Second Class. Frank was a Sheetmetal Worker at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard 1968 to 1987. He was a Deacon at the Lansdowne Presbyterian Church; amember of the Lansdowne Union Athletic Association, the Lansdowne Neighbors Club, a volunteer at Bryn Mawr Hospital and Lansdowne Meals on Wheels and a past member of Boy Scouts of America. Survivors: His wife Mary Jane Gorges (Greer); god-daughter Nancy Ellen Stahl of Willow Grove, PA; cousin Gary Thomas of San Jose, CA; his father Frank Benjamin Gorges; his mother Florence E Gorges (nee Greene). Memorials may be sent in memory of Frank Gorges to Rosement Presbyterian Retirement Village Friendship Fund, Rosement Presbyterian Retirement Village, 404 Cheswick Place, Rosemont, PA 19010.

Even before all of us moved from Darby to Lansdowne, Frank was our neighbor 2 doors away. He and his wife, Mary, were very dear people.

September 7, 2012

Memorial Service for both Frank and Mary Gorges will be held at the Rosemont Presbyterian Village on September 22 at 10AM.

Remembering good times on Mermont.
