Fred J. Galgani Sr.

1921 - 2015

1921-2015 Fred J. Galgani, Sr, 94 of Ridley Park, passed away on December 21, 2015. Fred was the son of the late Ettore and Virginia Galgani. Predeceased by daughter, Virginia Grau, granddaughter, Ginamarie Hammer and great grandchild, Michael Hammer. Fred was a proud WWll veteran, serving as a Bosenmate. Fred was a witness to the Atomic Bomb tests in the south pacific as well as serving in Japan during the occupation. After his 8 years in the Navy, Fred was employed by the Philadelphia naval shipyard as a military police officer for 30 years. Fred was a member of: Federal Order of Police, National Association of Atomic Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Knights of Colombus. Fred was a devoted father, grandfather, cousin and friend. He lived for the happiness of others around him. He was a huge impact on his family. He will be eternally missed and forever remembered. Galgani, Jr of Ridley Park, grandchildren, Nichole Galgani, Dena (John) Quinn, Steven Galgani, Raquel Galgani, Andria (Brendan) Rafferty, Michael Galgani, Norman Hammer, Great-grandchildren, Anthony Hammer, Kathryn Dickinson, Matteo Jimenez, Jayden Quinn, Jordyn Quinn, Anthony Gavetti, James Lonergan, Vincenzo Galgani, Brendan Rafferty Jr. great- great grandchildren, Leo Hammer, Charlie Dickinson, Klaus Hammer. Cousin Michael Giamboy, Daughter in laws Caren Barral and Linda Briggs. Services: Relatives and friends are invited to Fred’s Life Celebration, Tuesday December 29, 2015, 9:30-11AM at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, 18th & Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Phila, PA 19103 with his Funeral Mass to follow at 11AM. Interment: Lawncroft Cemetery, Marcus Hook, PA.
