Joseph Mortimer Obituary

Joseph Patrick Mortimer, 77 Resident of Media. Joe Mortimer, 77. Died on November 1st, 2010, surrounded by family at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Born on Belmar Ave. in S.W. Philadelphia, Joe was one of seven children and the son of Anthony and Agnes Mortimer. He was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Parish and later graduated from West Catholic High School for Boys in 1951. After serving in the Army and a veteran of the Korean War, Joe worked as a supervisor for Allegheny Airlines and Us Airways for 32 years where he was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 732. He loved to travel, was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan, and enjoyed spending his free time watching classic movies. Nothing made him happier than being Irish and sharing time with family and friends. Survivors: He is survived by his wife Marie of Media, PA; 2 children Joseph of Los Angeles, CA, and Deborah DiBattista of Essington, PA; brother John Mortimer of Norristown; sisters Ann Mortimer of Woodlyn, Helen Feeney of Swarthmore and Agnes Greeley of Collingdale; son-in-law James DiBattista; 3 grandchildren, Jacob, Vaughn and Dillon Dibattista of Essington, PA Visitation: Friday November 5th, 7 to 9 PM at Cavanagh Family Funeral Home, 310 Chester Pike, Norwood, PA 19074 Visitation / Service: Saturday November 6th, visitation at the St. Margaret Mary Church, 500 Wanamaker AVe., Essington, PA 19029 from 10 to 11 AM, followed by Mass at 11 AM Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name and Dr. Cuckoo Choudhary to Jefferson Foundation, 925 Chestnut Street, Suite 110, Philadelphia, PA 19107 and directed toward the Gastroenterology Research and Education Fund. or online at http://www.jefferson.edu/jeffgiving. Aunt Marie, Joe, and Debbie and Family, I was sorry to hear about Uncle Joe's passing. I will always remember how good you both were to all of us kids/cousins when we descended upon your home.
