Martin James "Marty" Jeffers

1921 - 2017

Martin James Jeffers “Marty“ known to his friends as” Buddy“. He was born April 15, 1921, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2017 at Riddle Village, age 89, formerly of Broomall. He was born and raised in Minooka, PA. Beloved husband of Frances (nee Ackroyd) of 64 years. Devoted father of Marty Jeffers (Sita), J. Kevin Jeffers (Christine) and Eileen McGeever (Charlie). Also survived by his 7 grandchildren, one great-grandchild. Marty played football and was a proud graduate of Manooka High School. He enlisted in the US Navy at 17 and served 2 yrs on the US Mississippi, where he witnessed the surrender of Japan on Sept. 2, 1945 at Tokoyo Bay. He entered the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in Hershey where he served for 37 years, obtaining the rank of Corporal. During his time serving he was awarded 2 honorary citations. After retiring he was employed by Delaware County Criminal Investigation Department of the Delaware County Court House in PA. as a criminal investigator for 23 years. He was also an avid Eagles fan. Memorial Mass: Wednesday at 10:00 AM in Saint Pius X Church, 220 Lawrence Road, Broomall, where relatives and friends may call after 9:00 AM.
