I’m trying so hard to LIVE....... please help me be better. Thank you for those hawks, at just the right time.
I miss you , & love you. Take care of your brother & his family. Let them all feel your presence. Give Bella a hug from me.

Mr. and Mrs. Davis, I met you at the viewing. I worked with Matt for a year and a half at Verizon before he was taken. I just wanted to let you know that even though I only knew him for that short time, I still think of him and of your family. Having two children of my own, I can't imagine going through this. I wanted to take a minute to tell you that. My thoughts continue to be with you.

Thank you all for your support and taking time to reach out to us from the beginning of this horrible journey we are on without Matthew. I try to feel him with me, but many times I just ache for site of him, a hug, a shared laugh. Now that the article was run in the Daily Times and Matthew's headstone was placed same day, I am once again reliving what happened to my truly amazing son.....everything ..what did he see , did he know he was about to die...I would trade places with him in a heart beat. He brought so much to this world and so many people have better outlooks on life because of just being in his company, regardless of the circumstance. Matthew James Davis , I hope you see how much you have changed this world, and I will love you forever. Mom

Sometimes it seems people are brought together anonymously for very special reasons. Whether it is an act of God to share an emotion or simply fate. I have a link to this site and read the messages about your son as they are posted. I shared Bella's info when she was lost thru my facebook site for lost and found pets in Pa (Find Toby in PA). I did not know your son, but your story touched my life and I hold a special place in my heart for your son's devotion to his dog. My parents lost their son (my brother) at age 30 and I am too familiar with the pain and emptiness it brought us. Please know that it does get more bearable with time, even though after 20 years there's not a day goes by that I don't think of him. Now, as a mom myself, I cannot imagine, as it is my worst fear. Bless your family with strength and courage, and hold the memories close to you. Bella is your living link to your son. May she give you comfort.
June 22, 2013
Diane M. Thank you so very much for sharing your connection to us and for helping in the search for Bella. She lives with us and our 20 month old German Shepherd Smithwick Jamison..Matt helped us name him and was going to be helping us train him. It amazes us just how well this young dog gets along with Bella I believe she is meant to be here. Sometimes it's very hard to have her here when I get upset about what happened, but I just close my eyes and hug her, knowing Matt held her just like I did. God bless you for helping look for Bella and for your praise for both my sons. We are honored to have such great sons and are blessed with a wonderful daughter in law and family.. Take care and know that we will think of you each day as we care for Bella .

Dear Beckie,
I read the article and it was such a wonderful tribute to a young man with so much grace and love for life, people and animals. I hope you'll forgive me, but I was relieved to read that Bella the dog was with the family--you see, I(along with many other people) helped Matt's brother Zach try to find Bella when she was first missing. Knowing how much that dog meant to Matt--made it second-nature to try to help Zach find her --my heart ached for Matt--and it was all the more reason to try to find his dog. I'll never forget the call from Zach--he was relieved but crying because Bella did come back and she most likely did it to return to her beloved owner, Matt. It seemed to bring some peace to Zach--which seemed so important at that moment. I came to Matt's viewing--one of the most beautiful and heart-wrenching events I'll probably ever experience in my lifetime-even though I did not know this wonderful young man. And I came up to the line so I could meet Matt's beautiful parents and give you the best hug I could muster amidst our tears. I was honored to finally meet Zach and his wife too in person--what a beautiful, loving family Matt has. I am so very very sorry for your loss.
As for Bella, she clearly meant so much to your son, and I believe Matt would want her to be with his family.
I'm honored to have connected to you and the Davis family through a wonderful young man I never had the pleasure to meet. And I too loved the article and learning so much more about Matt and his influence on so many, and how many people love him and will go on loving him. Matt Davis touched my life and I will be forever grateful for the honor.

Dear Beckie and Jim... Opened the Christmas card and just cried. I can't begin to imagine the pain of losing a child, and hope I never have to live through this heartbreak. May you realize what a fine young man you raised, and that the world was a better place for having him, even though it was for a short time. I pray that you find peace this Christmas season, and remember all the past holidays with Matt, and hold those fond memories forever in your hearts.

Matt had every gift except for length of years. He accomplished more in 28 years than most will accomplish in a lifetime, and he died trying to save his dog. What could be more noble than this!!! Be proud of this young man and all he did to make this world a better place, and know he will be missed by many, but realize heaven will have a special angel to look down upon all of us1!!!

I had Matt in school and I felt fortunate to have had the opportunity to have known him. He was a wonderful young man who was always kind to our special needs son Joe and he played on an adult coed softball team with our daughter Jill. Our prayers are with your family, we cannot imagine your sense of loss. Please have peace in knowing that you raised an incredible young man who in his short life accomplished great things with many people. Heaven is a better place, but I will miss him and we feel lucky as a family to have known him. DeBenny family.

Dear Davis Family,
I was a classmate of Matt's at Garnet Valley from elementary school through high school, and I just heard of his passing. I am so sorry for your loss.
Matt was a well-rounded, kind-hearted person who seemed wise beyond his years. He was very dedicated to all that he did, but yet had a carefree, friendly attitude.
My brother Robbie was also a boy scout, and I remember coming to various events and seeing Matt. It was very apparent how much Matt valued being a part of that organization and how respected he was by the younger boy scouts like my brother.
Please know that Matt touched many lives, and that you are in the thoughts and prayers of many.
Sincerely,
Allison (Haughey) Adams

Dearest Davis family,
There are truly no words to express our deepest sorrow and sincere sympathy for your family at this trying time. Matt was a bright light shining for too briefly a time on earth. We pray you can
focus on the joyful memories everyone has of Matthew. I will always remember him on the Misericordia lax field turning his head with the 4 Matt's when coach called out, not knowing which one he wanted, but ready for action. Remember how much Matt loved you bringing tomato pie and soft pretzels for games, both home and away. Matt was always smiling, on field in rain or shine, off field just talking easily to all families making everyone he knew " special" . He is now an extraordinary angel with his contagious smile! You are in our prayers for solace.
Deepest condences,

Dear Jim, Beckie and Zack, Please accept our heartfelt condolences on the loss of Matt, a truly outstanding young man. I will never again be able to walk or ride to the top of my driveway without seeing in my mind's eye, Matt and Zack, so many years ago, at their ice tea/lemonade stand in front of your house. It was a much appreciated oasis on a hot, lawnmowing, Summer day. May Matt rest in peace in the House of the Lord; and may you, Jim and Beckie, find solace in the realization that, for an all too short period of time, you gave to so many people the gift of a sterling son who touched their lives so positively. With kindest regards and our hope that you will fully recover from the sorrow pressing upon you as a result of his tragedy.

Dear Jim and Becky... i stop here and want to type some comfort,,, as i can ony imagine there is none for your hearts minds days and nights that take your breath away..:{ i am just in pain for you all... i hope for you today tomorrow and the next are that you fall into the arms of Jesus the maker of all.. he knit Matt together in your womb ... and he knew his name and what is all going on now before the fondations of the world .. He was not taken by surprise .. know that the Lord did not fall asleep or was unaware. he is working out all the plans for a reason.. i believe for many it will bring a new hope and for others they will fall to thier knees and question what will become of them on that day they meet the Lord ... we all will come before the throne of the living God.. May His mercy peace and Grace shadow over you bring you comfort that only the father in heaven can bring to such a broken heart .. we are here on earth to give wittness and testimony to the Glory of God and i see that he found fit to use your son to bring his name and others to himself for salvation in christ Jesus ... He was a hero, and now that he is gone from this world is still bringing fruit to the kingdom of God... Rest in the promises of God That he will never leave or forsake you .. you are marked with a seal for the day of you redemtion . Love rays sister Lorraine ... will continue to pray for you and your family Gods hug to you
