1925-2015 Richard L. Cloud, Jr., 90, of Norwood, Delaware County, passed with his children at his side on Sunday, August 23rd. Nancy, his daughter, walked with him through months of personal care and devotion. Dick Cloud was the husband of the late Julia R. Cloud, Father of 6 Children, Richard Cloud (Bente), Jerome Cloud (Carole), Justine Vigilante (Sonny), David Cloud (Pamela), Nancy Cloud Hushen (Tom), and 10 Grandchildren, Tom, Michael, Julian, Matthew, Heather, Amy, Angela, Kevin, Emily and Noah, along with 2 Great Grandchildren Jayden and Guilliana. He was preceded in death by his son Stephen Cloud. Geneology was a labor of love for Richard. The Cloud family of Pennsylvania originated in 1682 when William Cloud of Wiltshire, England reportedly received a land grant from William Penn. This land later became known as present day Concord Township. Richard was the only child born to 1st Generation American Parents, Richard Lancaster Cloud, Sr. and Maude Boyer. He was an honored veteran of World War II, youngest 1st Sergeant in his regiment, and loved history, especially Delaware County History. While active in local politics for many years, his civic achievements included serving on the Norwood Board of Supervisors. He served his community of Norwood in multiple ways including years of service to the 4th of July Association and the Norwood Swim Club. Dick loved his community. He lived in Delaware County all his life, loved raising his 6 children in Norwood. He was devoted to his wife Julia and they loved sharing their combined talents in woodworking and sewing at Norwood Swim Club and St. Gabriel’s School and Church, where he was a devout catholic. Dick and Jule loved sharing their family’s traditions and activities together especially at the shore and bay excursions of Sea Isle City and Cape May. Walking into Dick’s home on Lee Road is testament to their shared talents. Dick Cloud had wonderful lifetime friends, parties, and enjoyed his work at Walbers on the Delaware, Metropolitan Life Insurance and Delaware County Courthouse. Services will be held on Thursday, August 27th at the Church of St. Gabriel Church, 233 Mohawk Ave., Norwood, Pa. with his viewing from 9:30-10:45am followed by his funeral mass at 11:00am. Interment will be held at Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, Pa.
