Stephen Woods Obituary

1952-2015 Stephen Joseph Woods, 63, of Boothwyn, PA, passed away on May 21st in Whistler, British Columbia. Born in Darby, PA, on April 4th, 1952, he was the son of Francis B. Woods and Therese M. Woods (Gallagher). Steve worked at PECO for 41 years, reaching the level of Senior Analyst IV before his retirement in 2014. Steve was an avid volleyball player and skier, a world traveler, and a member of the prestigious and exclusive Centurions. An accomplished autodidact, Steve had an impressive knowledge of politics and history- a knowledge which he shared with anyone who would listen. Above all, though, Steve was a kind and fun-loving man, an extraordinarily devoted father, and about as witty as a person can be outside of a movie. He left us too soon, and will be sorely missed. Steve is survived by his son, Stephen J. Woods Jr. of Coatesville, PA, his brothers Francis B. Woods of Media, PA; Michael J. Woods of Del Ray, FL; Daniel J. Woods of Biloxi, MS; Andrew P. Woods of Collingdale, PA; Thomas A. Woods (Karen) of Collingdale, PA, his sisters Patricia Bechtle (Leigh) of Media, PA; Mary E. Woods of Collingdale, PA; Therese Hopson (Tom) of Rutledge, PA; Bernadette Dunning (Dennis) of Morton, PA; Christina Mahoney (Matt) of Ridley Park, PA, former spouse Marie F. Schneider of Coatesville, PA, and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, June 4th, from 4 PM to 6 PM, at Ridley Creek State Park, Pavilion #17. So sorry I missed this.. I definitely would have liked to pay my respects. My prayers go out to the family, especially SteveIE (as Steve called him here at PECO). We've heard so much about Stevie and allof the ski trips that you two were on. I just lost my father in Jan so I know the loss you feel. I can only wish that you will be able to move forward remembrering and enjoying all of your happy memories together. God bless!

My sincere condolences to the Woods family and especially to Steve's son--I have a picture of you at Telluride that Steve gave me after one of our many skiing discussions in 10 years at Plymouth (PECO). I went to his retirement party at Tom & Jerry's and got to see a full bar of friends (and even the band) wish him well.

My Sincere Condolences to the family,
I had the privilege of working with Mr. Woods at Exelon Energy where he trained me as an Analyst and at PECo where he went out of his way to support my project. I was once told humor requires intelligence and I always thought he was proof of that. Several things will trigger found memories of him for me, as I hope they do for you.

I took Steve to the Bunkhouse Bar twice while he was here in Wyoming. After he left people there told me how impressed they were by him and that generally they liked him better than me. Honestly, I couldn't argue the point because when I really thought about it, I liked him better than me too. Anybody who's ever met him would understand. Love you Steve!

I went to school with Stephen at OLPH. Nice guy. He sat right next to me in 6th grade. I remember his science project. I think it had something to do with a light bulb turning on if you correctly answered a chemistry question. RIP, Stephen

I am at a loss for words. Since we grew up about six houses from each other, Steve was one of my earliest friends. We attended both OLPH and Cardinal O'Hara together. He was one of a group of five friends that my mother used to refer to as the, "Dead End Kids." While we had not seen each other in several years, I will mourn his passing. My condolences to you all.
