Amy Folger Obituary

MARION — Amy Katherine Folger, age 55, of Marion, died unexpectedly at home on Monday, April 11, 2022, following heart-related issues. On April 9, 1967, Amy was born in Marion, Ohio, the oldest of three daughters of the late Donald Jacob Folger and Nancy Ann (Gisel) Folger Harmon.

Growing up, she enjoyed attending the First Presbyterian Church in Marion with her family. She also graduated from River Valley High School in the class of 1985.

Shortly following graduation, Amy found her home away from home at Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware. During her thirty-plus years at the hospital, she held several roles in the patient registration department, including some supervisor duties. She saw all of her co-workers as her second family.

Having a gift of bringing everyone together, Amy loved coaching and managing a co-ed softball team for many years. She also loved planning "family game night," to teach all of their favorite card and board games of their youth to the next generation…because they need to know how to play euchre, etc.!

A walking dictionary, Amy was everyone's go-to person if they ever had a question they couldn't figure out the answer to. She was the family historian, doing extensive research to figure out their family tree. She also was the queen of family trivia, if you needed to know where you went on vacation in the summer of 1973, Amy would undoubtedly have the answer. She also was an avid reader, with mysteries being her preferred genre of books. She was even one of those people who did her crossword puzzles in ink.

Amy always loved a good joke, and her family loved her random phones call just share the latest and greatest joke she had to tell. She also had a contagious hearty laugh that left everyone with sore stomachs.

One of the most selfless people you could ever meet, Amy lived her life for everyone else and would do anything for anyone. She overflowed with love for her family, especially her precious nieces and nephews, whom she treated like her own children. She was the kind of aunt, who would try and think of the perfect songs to help the kids sleep through the night. Her family will also forever cherish the nightly calls she would make to one lucky winner on her drive home from work.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sisters: D'Arcy K. (William) Abraham, and Gretchen A. (Brad) Mattix; Step-father, Tom L. Harmon; Step-brother: Logan K. (Christine) Harmon; nine nieces and nephews: Jacob (Katie), Hayden, Cassidy (Alec), D'Arcy, Gigi, Shae (Clayton), Lucas, Ailyn, and Tristan; a great niece and great nephew: Gracie and Marshall; numerous cousins and dear friends, including her special friend, Mark; and her beloved canine companion, Maddie.

Amy was greeted at Heaven's gates with open arms by her parents.

Her family will greet friends from 2–5 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2022, at the Snyder Funeral Homes, DENZER Chapel, 360 E. Center St., Marion. A service celebrating her life will also follow there at 5 p.m., with Reverend Jennifer Eastman-Hinkle officiating.

If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Wyandot County Humane Society (http://wyhumane.org/) or to the American Heart Association (https://www.heart.org).
