DELAWARE — Beverly Mae Coleman, 72, of Delaware passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, May 26, 2022, at Grady Memorial Hospital.
She was born January 13, 1950, in Delaware to the late George and Willie Mae (Ellison) Flournoy and attended Delaware Hayes High School.
Beverly worked as Supervisor of Food Services for Ohio Wesleyan University, retiring after 47 years. The students loved her dearly and would stop by to see her even if they weren't hungry.
The African American kids at Ohio Wesleyan rallied for them to be able to have a Soul Food Night during Black History Month. She would take the lead and prepare the meal with her staff. It became a treasured and traditional night on campus. She also served on a few Ladies Auxiliary Clubs.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, going to the casino and talking with people, especially her sisters about soap operas. An avid reader, she also enjoyed doing her nails, spending time with her family and friends and spoiling her grandkids.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, William Coleman of Delaware, Chrystal (Theodore) Proctor of Cincinnati, Dawanna Coleman of Galion, Chemelle (Erick Brewer) of Delaware, and Tosha (Steven) Breece of Delaware; 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Jane (Roland) Mullins of Columbus, Carolyn (Herb) Williams of Delaware, Hazel (Thomas) Moxley of Delaware, and Vickie Evans of Delaware; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by her daughter Wanda Doreen Coleman, her sister Evelyn Durr and her brothers Robert, George Jr. and Clarence Flournoy. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 3, 2022, from 10 a.m.–noon at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive at W. William Street, Delaware, where services celebrating Beverly's life will follow at 12:00 (noon). A repast will then be held in the Snyder-Rodman Community Room.
The Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center is honored to serve the Coleman family.
