The Browns made it to the playoff on January 3, 2021, beating the Pittsburgh Steelers 24-22. Thank you, Cleveland Browns, for making his dream come true.

So sorry to hear of Smitty’s passing. Got to know Smitty at UDF when was there drinking coffee in his Browns gear. Talked to him everyday. When I retired, began working at UDF and he was the highlight of the day. Always wanted to talk about the Browns and Buckeyes. He was always a little more pumped when he talked about kids coming to do dinner on Sunday and watch the Browns. Would buy some beer because people coming for game would drink all his beer. Smiled every time. I would give him ride home on nasty days. Said could walk home, but I wasn’t having it. Used to help him with mail picked up at post office. Was a pleasure. Great man, going to miss him. RIP Smitty!
