Gerald "Gerry" Herbert Roehner, age 84, of Delaware, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
Gerald was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on July 21, 1941, to the late Herbert and Helene Roehner.
After receiving an opportunity to work at Gilson Company, Incorporated, Gerry moved to the Delaware area. At Gilson, Gerald worked primarily doing Research and Development of equipment used for testing construction materials.
These early years brought 9 grandchildren which he instantly loved with all his heart. They always brought a smile to his face.
Following his retirement, Gerald spent 20 wonderful years wintering in Florida with his wife Kay Roehner. Gerald called Florida his "Happy Place". There he and Kay enjoyed going to the beach, and boating. He was also very enthusiastic about pickleball and tolerated golf.
In his spare time, Gerald also kindled his love for cars; especially Jaguars which he collected. His love for cars also extended to watching races. Gerald had seats for the Indie 500 since the 1960's and kept going until he spent less time in Ohio during retirement.
Like his experiences with pickleball and golf, Gerald loved the Ohio State Buckeyes and tolerated the Cleveland Browns.
Gerald was a beautiful soul. He was gentle, sweet, and caring. His subtle sense of humor, and attention to detail in all things were matchless.
Gerald was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. The friendships that he had made were so very important to him, and he will be missed by so many.
Gerald Herbert Roehner is survived by his loving wife Karen Kay Roehner; son Philip Roehner (Julie); daughters Andrea McNamara (Kevin) and Suzanne Newlon; grandchildren Jordan V. Newlon, Brendan McNamara, Patrick McNamara (Lexi), Sedona R. Newlon (Liam), Madeleine McNamara, Makenzie Roehner, Katherine McNamara, Brigid McNamara, and Colleen McNamara; great-grandchildren Naomi McNamara and Harvey McNamara; sister Marlene Zastrow; brother Martin Roehner (Leeann); as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
