KYLE SHROUT Obituary

DELAWARE — Kyle M. "Shrout" Shrout, 25, passed away very unexpectedly at home Friday, March 13, 2015. He not only had a large heart medically but emotionally as well, which unfortunately led to his untimely passing.

A big man, he loved large. Named Kyle by his mother Laura Williams because he was fair and handsome, he was given the middle name Matthew because he truly was a gift from God.

A true gentle giant even at a young age, he was always sports minded. Bright and gifted as a child he played soccer, participated in karate because it reminded him of the Power Rangers. He played T-ball, baseball, wrestled, and participated in the Optimist Football League. At Conger Elementary he was the 4th grade spelling bee champ and the same during 6th grade at Willis School.

During junior high school he was a member of the volleyball and football teams. While attending Delaware Hayes he bowled, served as a mentor, and was a member of the track team throwing both the shot put and discus. During the summer he played basketball in the Delaware Recreational League. Described as a class clown, he was on the homecoming court during his sophomore year. He proudly wore No. 54 as left guard of the football team, participated as a Positive Peer Group, and the Rough Riders. He graduated from Delaware Hayes High School in 2008.

On scholarship, he wore No. 77 and played left guard for the football team four years, graduating in 2012 from John Carroll University with a bachelor's degree in sociology. Following college he journeyed to find his way and was currently trying his hand at acting.

Always smart and witty, he was a gentle giant who loved kids. Constantly on the go and with a smile, with Kyle there was never a harsh word spoken. Shrout was a fan of trivia, 1980s and alternative music and all movies, especially Tarantino movies, but not a fan of cheese.

Private in nature, he was fun to be around and a true buddy. He was always there, willing to help and never judgmental. He treasured the many friendships acquired through his participation in sports. He will long be remembered for his ornery ways, as a wonderful son, brother, nephew, and uncle and most importantly for his big heart.

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Laura Williams of Delaware; father, Ray Shrout of Dayton; big sister, Casey Shrout; brother and cousin, Ian (Morgaine) Williams; aunt, Lee Ann Williams (Cindy Nye); nephew, Adrian, all of Delaware; grandparents, Elizabeth Hunter of Tampa, Florida, Henry (Mona) Williams of Dayton; teammates and a host of friends.

Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2015, at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William St. at Valleyside Drive, Delaware, where a service celebrating the life of Kyle Shrout will follow at 7 p.m. Thursday led by Rev. Dan Bill. Friends are asked to come prepared to share a story.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Kyle Shrout Memorial Fund to be used to establish a scholarship for those in need from the Delaware Hayes High School.
