DELAWARE — Owen Eugene Culver, 87, of Delaware passed away Tuesday evening, September 13, 2022, at his residence.
He was born May 1, 1935, in Sunbury, Ohio to the late Browson Price Culver and Frances Caroline (Adams) Culver and later graduated from Willis High School in 1954. He then proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1957 – 1959. On June 17, 1961, he married the love of his life Martha Jean Smith. Sadly, Martha preceded him death.
Owen retired in 1990 from the United States Postal Service in Delaware after serving 30 years, a position he enjoyed every minute of. An avid OSU Buckeye fan, he enjoyed playing golf, bowling, working on puzzles and Bingo.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Robert (Jeannette) Culver of Delaware; brother, Micheal (Linda) Dolan of Troy; sisters, Pat (Todd) O'Dell and Barb Deal of Delaware; loving companion, Carol Phillips; several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents and loving wife, Owen was also preceded in death by his stepfather Sid Dolan, brother Gary Culver, brother-in-law Hughley Deal and his sister-in-law Pat Culver.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 19, 2022, from 2 – 4 p.m. at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive at W. William St., Delaware, where services celebrating Owen's life will follow at 4 p.m. with Chaplain Jeff Slider officiating and the Delaware County Veterans Association providing military honors.
Contributions in Owen's memory may be made to OhioHealth Hospice of Delaware or Special Olympics of Delaware County.
The Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center is honored to serve this veteran and his family.
