Phillip Ray Tackett, 72, of Delaware passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon, April 1, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 17, 1950, in Magoffin County, Kentucky to the late Clay Tackett and Garnett (Columbus) Miller. On September 28, 1990, he married the love of his life Sharon Campbell.
Phillip worked for Armco Steel for many years and later for Nestle's in Marysville.
He was a member of William Street United Methodist Church and a former member of the Delaware Moose Lodge and Delaware Eagles #376. Always tinkering with something, he was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed watching and going to NASCAR races and classic car shows.
Humorous and quite the story teller, he was an avid news watcher and was always up on current events. A loyal Michigan and Steelers fan, he also enjoyed music and singing Karaoke remembering every word.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 32 years, Sharon; daughters, Tammi (Robert) Cowell of Marion and Tonya Boyd and her companion Scott Weisend of Etna; sons, Terry Tackett of Delaware and James (Sandra) Hoffman of Wallingford, Connecticut; grandchildren, Ashlee (Matthew) Cordes, Colten Cowell, Brayden Boyd, and Gavin Hoffman; great-grandchild, Crew Cordes; in-laws, Roy (Kay) Campbell of Delaware.
In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by his daughter Marina Tackett, grandson Preston Cowell and his mother-in-law Phyllis Campbell.
A memorial gathering celebrating Phillip's life will be held on Monday, April 10, 2023, from 4 – 6 p.m. at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive at W. William St., Delaware, where a time of sharing and remembrance will follow at 6 p.m.
