Virginia Meek Obituary

Virginia May Meek, affectionately known as "Peaches," passed away on September 22, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on May 26, 1929, in Barnesville, Ohio, her remarkable journey began at the dawn of the Great Depression.

Virginia was raised by her maternal grandparents after her father passed away when she was just a year old. She often fondly recalled her time spent with them, sharing cherished memories of walking hand-in-hand with her grandfather to the local picture show and enjoying the warmth of her grandmother's cooking, particularly the comforting pot of beans that she would keep simmering for anyone in need.

Virginia's life took a new turn when her mother remarried, leading her back into a home with siblings and a stepfather during her teenage years. The loss of her first mother shaped her resilience and character, and she continued to embrace family life. In high school, she met a hardworking farm boy who would eventually become her beloved husband.

Throughout her marriage, Virginia experienced the conventional ups and downs of life, raising a daughter and two sons with her husband, David Meek. They worked diligently together, ensuring their children were well cared for and providing them with a warm and loving household. Virginia was particularly proud of her role as a mother, teaching her children the importance of family, duty, and support.

Her creative spirit shone through her interests in art, ceramics, painting, and watercolors. Virginia was a constant source of positivity and humor, endearing herself to all who knew her. She cherished her children and grandchildren deeply, often expressing her pride in their accomplishments.

Virginia leaves behind her daughter, Cheryl (Jerry) Brenner; sons, David Meek and Michael (Ruth) Meek; and her grandchildren, Pyper (Rob) Hinton, Brandon (Jess) Meek, and Seth (Shelby) Meek. She also had a brother, Donald Cole, and many great-grandchildren who will carry forward her legacy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Meek; grandson, JT Brenner; her parents, Lawrence Hinds and Mildred Cole; and her brother, Charles Cole.

As her family prepares to lay her earthly remains to rest beside her beloved husband, they celebrate a life filled with love, creativity, and devotion. Virginia's impact on her family and those who loved her will be felt for generations to come. Rest in peace, dear mom. Your legacy lives on in the hearts of your children and grandchildren.
