David Carroll Glacken

SALISBURY — David Carroll Glacken, 67, of Salisbury died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at Salisbury Center: Genesis ElderCare in Salisbury. Born on April 8, 1944, in Baltimore, he was a son of the late John Francis Glacken and Theresa Wilson Glacken.

"Grizz" was a truck driver for more than 30 years with P&A Engineering and Hess Trucking, retiring in the 1990s. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying many days in the woods and on the water. He loved his family and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janie L. Glacken, in 2000; three brothers, John Leonard, Eugene Leroy and Robert Vincent Glacken.

He is survived by three sons, David Charles Glacken and his fiancee, Sheila Morley, of Pittsville, John Carroll Glacken and his wife, Tammy, of Powellville and Shawn Ronald Glacken and his wife, Lynn, of Powellville; a daughter, Teresa Barbara Simkins and her husband, William, of Pittsville; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Ronald Glacken and his wife, Darlene, of Kent Narrows, Denny Glacken of Baltimore, Jimmy Glacken and his wife, Donna, of Arizona and Mark Allen Glacken of Harrisburg, Pa.; two sisters, Mary Jane Glacken of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Melissa Glacken of Harrisburg; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will conduct private memorial services.

Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the charity of your choice.
