Eda (Terre) Martin Thompson

SALISBURY—Eda T. Thompson, 79, of Salisbury died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at Salisbury Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Salisbury.

Born in Baltimore, Md., on Oct. 9, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Edward and Eda Teresa Mulinari Conlon. Her husband, Leroy W. Thompson died March 19, 2008.

Terre was retired from Maryland Casualty Company in Baltimore, where she worked for over 20 years. She was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church of Pocomoke City. She loved playing bridge and had played on several bridge leagues nationwide. She enjoyed entertaining and was a great cook. Terre had a great passion for volunteering and was a past member of the Rangers Club of Hampden, Md; Atlantic General Hospital Volunteers, Berlin; Women's Club of Ocean Pines; Woman's Democratic Club of Ocean Pines, and also volunteered at the Assateague Island National Seashore in Virginia. She also served on the Worcester County Board of Elections. Terre loved to travel and traveled internationally to Panama, China and Vietnam.

She is survived by her children, Thomas L. Martin and wife Shelby of Arlington, Va.; Deborah S. Hiob and husband Douglas of Bel Air, Md; W Matthew Martin Jr. and wife Susie of Charleston, South Carolina; Catherine T. Fulton and husband George of New Church, Va.; a brother Thomas E. Conlon II of Eden; a sister Patricia Van Buskirk and husband William of Waleska, Georgia: five grandchildren, Eric Hiob, Caitlin Hiob, Jennifer Martin, Sara Fulton and Rachel Fulton; and several loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three step sons, Michael Thompson, William Thompson and Timothy Thompson all of Baltimore.

Services will be officiated by Father James Porter on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at 2PM at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Pocomoke City.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be sent to Coastal Hospice of the Eastern Shore.
