Gilbert Andrew Parks

Gilbert "Andy" Andrew Parks, 71, of White Oak, Texas, passed away on November 23,2016 of cancer. The family will hold a private graveside service in Seminole, Texas.

He was born in Tangier Island, Virginia on June 16,1945. He graduated from Mardela High School in 1963 and volunteered to serve in the United States Marine Corp overseas during the Vietnam War from 1963 - 1967. He went on to obtain a Master Mariner Oceans Unlimited License from the United States Coast Guard.

Andy was married to his beloved wife Jo Ann Thomason on April 11, 1968 in Metairie, Louisiana; they were married 48 years.

He worked in both the commercial fishing industry and the offshore oil and gas industry in Houma, Louisiana and the Gulf of Mexico for over 40 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and working in his garden.

Andy is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Parks, daughter, Kelly Jo Rolland and her husband Thomas C. Rolland, his son, Chief Petty Officer John Allen Parks who is currently serving on the USS Porter in Rota, Spain with the United States Navy and his wife Jennifer Parks, grandchildren Thomas S. Rolland II, Emma Rolland, Andrew Rolland, Fiona Rolland and Hannah Rolland, his sisters Frances Ward and Dolores Pryor, and other family and friends

He is preceded in death by his father and mother John L. and Dorene Parks and his sister Mary Wells.
