Gordon Justice Obituary

Gordon Scott Justice

ARNOLD, Md. — Gordon Scott Justice, 47, of Arnold, Md., died Wednesday, June 29, 2011, after spending two years quietly battling, all the while stoically protecting his family from his ordeal. Gordon Scott Justice peacefully left this world, ending his heroic fight against cancer. Scott was born Jan. 30, 1964, to Sylvia Jenkins Poole and Jack H. Justice in Washington.

After graduating from Bowie High School in Bowie, Md., Scott served his country dutifully in the U.S. Navy from 1985-89. Later, he found his niche in this world as an information technologist for Saks Fifth Avenue.

Scott joins his father and his sister, Karen S. Griffith, who have preceded him, but leaves behind his loyal wife of 20 years, Kathleen A. Justice of Arnold; his loving mother, Sylvia J. Poole of Salisbury; his brother and friend, Dean Justice and wife, Susan, of Huntingtown, Md.; his mother- and father-in-law, Margherita and Henning Hoehne of Arnold; and a myriad of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. No less importantly, Scott has left behind Ginger and Pepper, his four-legged canine children.

In Scott's mother's words, he loved his family. He also loved Nascar, with a particular fondness for 17, Matt Kenseth. Scott often went to races with his brother, Dean, sometimes joining other family members such as his Aunt Barbara, Uncle Bunky and cousin, Ronnie, in this way combining two of the joys in his life, racing and family. Camping was also a favorite pastime of Scott and Kathy, and they always included Ginger and Pepper.

Giving even in death, Scott was not only an organ donor, but also left his remains for the scientific betterment of those of us remaining. In this same charitable spirit, his family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Melanoma Research Foundation, 1411 K St. N.W., Suite 500, Washington, D.C.; or online at www.melanoma.org. Let us remember Gordon Scott Justice by helping others who walk this same path.

Scott was my friend at Stephen Decatur 1982. We sang together in choir and went on several dates. Unable to locate Scott,I have wondered over the years how he was doing. He was a great person and I will continue to miss him always. Michelle Cropper Baker, Salisbury
