Louetta Shockley Pryor

Salisbury-Louetta Shockley Pryor, 87, of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at her home. Born in Pittsville on January 18, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Carl W. and Helen Oliphant Shockley.

She is survived by nieces and nephews, Nancy Hearn Willis (Jim), Robert Hearn, Marion K. Smith (Jan), Lynn Hert (Mike), Theresa Stagg (Jeremy), Deborah Jean Evans, Donna Lee Pryor and Valerie Pryor Horsey.

Louetta graduated from Wicomico High School, Class of 1946, and worked as a Director for the State of Maryland, Department of Social Services.

Louetta became a Lion in April 1993, when she was a Charter member of the Salisbury Metro Lions Club, and maintained perfect attendance since that time. She served as Charter President, Club Secretary, and has been a Board member of her club since it was chartered. Louetta served as District 22 B's Governor in 2000-2001 as well as serving as Honorary Committee Chairman, District Coordinator Vision 2000, and Chairman, 22B Lions Charitable Foundation, Youth Outreach Chairman, Historian, Zone Chairman and Vice District Governor. Louetta received the 100% President's Award, Youth Outreach Chairman's Award, received a Key Award from Lions International, the 100% Secretary's Award from the District and her club. The Salisbury Metro Lions Club conferred an Arnall Patz Fellow and a Darley Travers Fellow Award to Louetta. Louetta is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 57 years, Richard Lloyd Pryor, two brothers, Elwood Carl Shockley and Melvin O'Neill Shockley and one sister, Lavinia Clara Shockley.

Family and friends will gather for a visitation, including a Lion's Memorial Service, at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury on Sunday, February 26, 2017 from 5 - 7 PM and on Monday from 10 - 11 AM. A funeral service at the Holloway Funeral Home will be held on Monday, February 27, 2017 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Dr. Sally Dolch and the Rev. Dale Krotee (District Chaplain for Lions International) will officiate. Interment will follow in Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to: 22-B Charitable Foundation, c/o Darley Travers, P.O. Box 613, Hebron, MD 21830 or to a charity of your choice.
