Matthew Patey Obituary
WILLARDS — Matthew L. "Matt" Patey, 37, of Willards died suddenly Friday, April 27, 2012.
Matt was a farmer and a hard worker, and would do anything for anyone. He ran Patey Farms Inc. and Patey Demolition & Excavation, working hard to make sure his family was taken care of.
Matt was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church and was president of the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Committee. He also served as chairman of the Wicomico County Farm Service Agency, was on the board of directors for the Wicomico Farm Bureau, was a member of the Wicomico Young Farmers & Ranchers and was also a past director of the Wicomico Farm and Home Show.
Although Matt had few hobbies, his greatest pleasure was spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed by his wife and daughters.
Matt was the beloved husband of Tracy A. Patey; the awesome father of Macyn Leigh and Anna Claire Patey; the son of Herman Lee and Janice Patey of Willards; and the brother of Laura P. Lowe of Willards.
In addition Matt is survived by several aunts and uncles, cousins, his father-in-law, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and a multitude of good friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Howard and Laura Patey; and his maternal grandparents, Dewey and Eileen Fenton.
A funeral service will be held at noon Wednesday at the Willards Lions Club, 36393 Hearn Street in Willards. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5-7:30 p.m. at Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville and from 11 a.m.-noon Wednesday at the Lions Club. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Macyn and Claire Patey Scholarship Fund, in care of the Farmers Bank of Willards, PO Box 10, Willards, Md. 21874. This scholarship has been graciously set up by the Wicomico Young Farmers and Ranchers in memory of Matt.
