Mervin C. Wright Jr

SALISBURY — Mervin C. Wright Jr., 80, of Salisbury went home to be with his Lord Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.

Born in Salisbury, he was a son of Mervin C. and Edna Dashiell Wright. He was a graduate of the former Salisbury Colored High School in 1953. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, being awarded two medals.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Kathryn; eight children, Adeana (Rodney) Cannon, Mervin III, Vivian, Jeffrey and Jennifer Wright, Malinda (Bobby) Hitch, Gwendolyn "Pie" Penn and Susan Lewis; two brothers, David Wright Sr. and William Jackson; two sisters, Edith Wright of Philadelphia and the Rev. Edna Andrews; 21 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, favorite cousins and good friends.

A homegoing celebration of his life will be held Saturday at noon at Wesley Temple on West Road. A viewing will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the church.
