Patricia Ann Eldred-Travers
November 20, 1953 – January 26, 2011
Aged 57 years, 2 months, and 6 days
This is a day the Lord has made – Praise be to God. Good morning ladies and gentlemen, thank you for coming. My name is David Eldred, I am Patricia’s brother. The family has asked that I say a few words about her.
Patricia was many things to all of us………………
• A follower of Jesus Christ
• A devoted Wife
• A loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother
• A caring Sister
• A joyful Aunt
• A superior Nurse and Caregiver
• A loyal, true, and steadfast Friend
For 30 years she was the partner, helper, soul mate, friend, and wife of Brian; also known as her “Hunky Muffin” and.....
She loved him so.
Pat was a nurse, scheduler, chauffer, activities director, coach, teacher, seamstress, maid, enforcer, cook, and all sorts of innumerable other things to her children and grandchildren. This just goes to show that Moms are the originators of “Multitasking”; and.....
She loved all of them so.
She was my confidant, my friend, my helper, my advisor; she was my baby sister; she was always there for me and.......
She loved me so.
Pat was so very proud of her family – she loved us, warts and all; and.....
We loved her so.
She was a caring and loving lady. What better attributes can a person have? Certainly that was her motivation, to become a nurse. That tradition lives on in the family, as daughters Jennifer and Tiffany carry on her legacy as nurses themselves.
My sister saw loneliness and tried to befriend it; saw sadness and tried to gladden it; saw despair and tried to defeat it; saw hate and tried to love it; saw sickness and tried to heal it; saw pain and tried to stop it.
I ask that when we recall our thoughts of her, remember as Paul said in Philippians 1:3, “I thank God in all my remembrance of you.”
I have a final, simple request………………
As much as we miss her
DO NOT BE SAD THAT SHE IS GONE
BE SO VERY THANKFUL THAT SHE LIVED!
WE ARE ALL BETTER BECAUSE OF IT.

In Passing
Sometimes Mom in passing
Would pat you on the back
And sometimes in passing
She'd show you the right track.
Sometimes Mom in passing
Would say, "You sure look nice!"
And sometimes in passing
She could, make you, think twice.
Sometimes Mom in passing
Would lightly touch your hair
And sometimes in passing
She'd show you what was fair.
Sometimes Mom in passing
Would ask, "What do you mean?"
And sometimes in passing
She would get in between.
Sometimes Mom in passing
Would give you, "that look"
And sometimes in passing
Would give you what it took.
But this time, Mom is passing
From this world to the best
And this time in passing
She'll pass the final test.
And when Mom has passed
And the pain is so unkind
Just look and you'll find her
There in your heart and mind.
Mom I love and miss you so much!

Dearest Family I was saddened to hear of Pat's passing. I met Pat when she was working with me @ Salisbury University Student Health Services. She was such a jolly person. We grew to be very good friends. I know that she is now in no more pain. Our sorrows will be wiped away with the handkerchief of understanding and time. please know that you are in my prayers.
